Obverse of This Coin - Coin List

Constantine II Small Bronze - 2 Soldiers, 2 Standards Reverse

GLORIA EXERCITVS Type
Like the obverse of this coin, the reverse is boldly struck up though it appears the dies were somewhat worn. The rather oversized crested helmet worn by the soldier on the right presents a vaguely comical appearance to the modern eye. The sharply struck SMANE mintmark in the exergue indicating that this coin originated from the fifth officina of the Antioch mint. The coin is catalogued as a Sear s3951 and an LRBC 1357.
