Constantius II Small Bronze - 2 Soldiers, 1 Standard Reverse

GLORIA EXERCITVS Type
This littel 17mm AE 4 might be graded FDC (Fleur de Coin, equivalent to Choice Uncirculated) wereit not for the softness in striking. It was struck at the second officina of the Trier (Treveri) mint. The unbroken obverse legend is usually used on coins of the junior emperors. As Trier is a Western mint and was under the control of Constantine II, this could be an attempt by him to assert his seniority over Ci\onstantius II. It is similar to Sear number s3998 except for the mintmark.
