This is a nice example of an antoninianus of Philip I. Although none of the references the author has seeh seem to mention it, the coins of Philip I appear to be of better weight and overall quality of workmanship than those of either Gordianus before him or Decius and the others that follow him. Like many other coins of the period, this one has large serifs on the ends of the letters in the legends on both obverse and reverse. Exaggerated though they are, there are other coins that have serifs in the legends that are even larger and more claw - like.
