Victory Driving Quadriga Right on a Republican Denarius

The symbolic Representation of military power and victory in war in ancient Rome often included the quadriga being drawn swiftly by four straining horses. Horses were also a symbol of civic power and status in society, as they are usually associated with a person of Equestrian rank, who was well - off enough to afford their upkeep. Additionally, chariot racing became a favorite spectator and gambling sport amongst the Roman people.
