BETHLEHEM VIILLAGE: DEC 21, 22, and 23
This beautiful Christmas Story Nativity scene is recreated in downtown Redwood City. LXF has been invited back again to serve as the official Roman soldiers assigned to carry out Augustus Caesar's orders for the Census taking and for making sure the local citizens pay their taxes due unto Caesar. Had Caesar! It will be our duty to make sure that everyone conducts himself or herself in a peaceful, orderly manner Otherwise, it will mean punishment by the whip, or being sold into slavery, immediate imprisonment, (in which we call upon King Herod's personal guards to conduct the prisoner away) or death. Please conduct this type of Roman Justice away from the public's view. We do not wish to make a bloody scene there. Ha! We have included a map of the vicinity of Bethlehem Village with this issue that should provide you with adequate directions once you have made it to Woodside Road from either Highway 280 or Highway 101.
We plan to arrive there on Dec. 21st around 1430 (2:30 p?m.), in order to set up our Roman Camp. it will consist of just one Command tent, some fencing; and some personal item for use and display. If you have need of any loaner armor, please contact me before the 21st. On Dec 23rd, we will need help in taking down our display and packing it away. Any assistance you can provide will be greatly appreciated.
Hours of public admission to the site are 1800 (6 pm.) to 2130 (9:30 pm.). There will be food available there for your personal consumption, such as bread, lentil bean soup, roasted lamb and chicken, fruit, and drinks. Help yourself from the villager's tables. After all, they owe it to you in exchange for our Roman protection. Ave Immortalis Roma!
As the holiday season rushes upon us, please take some time off to recall the real reason for this season celebration. Merry Christmas, everyone!
