Obverse of This Coin - Coin List

Silver Antoninianus of Philip I

Obverse Inscription: IMP M IVL PHILIPPVS AVG
Reverse Inscription: VICTORIA AVG
Victory walking right carrying wreath
Catalog Numbers: c227;
Grade: VF/AXF
Obtained From: New World Rarities

This coin has a deeply dished flan, especially on the reverse, that permits a beautiful high relief striking of the figure of Victory advancing right holding a wreath. The obverse is dished as well, but not as dramatically as the reverse.
