Silver Antoninianus of Gordianus III

Obverse Inscription: IMP GORDIANVS PIVS FEL AVG
Reverse Inscription: FORT REDVX
Fortuna seated left holding ship's rudder, wheel under chair
Catalog Numbers: Seaby rsc97 ric143

This coin has a nicely struck up, bold reverse even though it is considerably worn. The rudder held by Fortuna is often mistakenly identified as a broken spear by some coin dealers.
