Brass Sestertius of Severus Alexander

Providentia is shown here sacrificing over a modius, or grain measure on the reverse of this smallish Sestertius. Actual size is shown in the image at right below.

Though nicely patinated and in reasonably decent condition (AVF by coin grading standards), this coin cost the author less than fifty dollars at a local ancient coin dealer's shop.
