Obverse of This Coin - Coin List

Brass Sestertius of Philip I

The image on the reverse of this coin is a figure of Laetitia standing with her right foot on the prow of a Roman warship. She is holding a patera in her right hand and a ship's rudder in her left. Much of the reverse is heavily damaged by corrosion although the inscription, LAET FVNDATA SC is discernible. The coin is from the Boston Metropolitan Museum of Art, having been sold off as a duplicate a few years ago.
