Bronze AE2 of Constantius II With Soldier Spearing Fallen Horseman Reverse

This is a beautiful example of a soldier spearing fallen horseman type from the Antioch mint. The officina letter S (Latin s, ordinal 6) indicates that this Centenionalis was struck by the seventh workshop. This is one example when the officinal letters don't follow the general rule for Eastern mints, which usually used Greek rather than Latin letters for the officina ordinals. This gallery contains another coin struck at the Antioch mint, officina Z, linked here to make it easy for the reader to compare styles.
